ONLINE BANKING SECURITY ENHANCEMENT: NEW LOGIN AUTHENTICATION PROCESS
Beginning on September 22, 2013, the Passmark Image, Phrase, and Challenge Questions you sometimes encounter during the Online Banking login process will be replaced with a new Login Authentication Process.
Currently, during your login to Online Banking, the system verifies your device (PC, Tablet, etc). If this is your registered device, the system will determine that this request is “normal” and “routine.” When it is, you are passed through to enter your password. Currently, a device that is not recognized is met with Challenge Questions that were established with answers you provided at the time you enrolled in Online Banking.
After September 22, 2013, if the verification process determines that you are using an unrecognized device, the system will go to a new security screen. The screen will inform you that you are being asked to complete an additional layer of security. The following screen will provide a list of the phone numbers you previously established with Bank of Franklin. You select a number where you can receive a call at your current location. The next screen provides you with a security code. During the call you will be prompted to provide the security code from the screen. The system matches the information and you are done! Once the phone call is complete, you will move on to your Online Banking password and be logged into your Online Banking. The process registers your device so you will not be asked again when logging in from this device.
In preparation for these enhancements, we are asking you to review, verify, and in some cases, update both phone numbers and email addresses. If you have not already verified this information, please login to your Online Banking and from the My Profile tab choose “Change Profile Information.” Once you have selected this link, please make sure you have the correct contact information listed. News Release - Bank of Franklin to open a branch in McComb
According to Bradley B. Jones, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Bank of Franklin, the institution is pleased to announce that it has been granted authority from the Mississippi Department of Banking and Consumer Finance as well as the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to begin construction of its first branch location in the Pike county area. The new office will be located at 511 Apache Drive, McComb, MS, and will be the fifth branch for Bank of Franklin. The institution currently has two locations in Meadville, one branch office in Bude, and a full-service banking office in Brookhaven, MS.
The Bank has already begun site preparations and expect to open a temporary facility in November, 2013. Jake Burris and Buddy Prestridge, both of whom are Pike County natives, will be responsible for the daily operations of the McComb office which will provide both loan and deposit services. The location will also provide customers with the conveniences of a drive-thru service and ATM.
Mr. Jones, the Board of Directors, and the employees of Bank of Franklin are excited about the move into the McComb area and look forward to prospects that are offered in the Pike County and Southwest Mississippi markets.
NOTICE OF EXPIRATION OF THE TEMPORARY FULL FDIC INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR NONINTEREST-BEARING TRANSACTION ACCOUNTS
By operation of federal law, beginning January 1, 2013, funds deposited in a noninterest-bearing transaction account (including an Interest on Lawyer Trust Account) no longer will receive unlimited deposit insurance coverage by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). Beginning January 1, 2013, all of a depositor's accounts at an insured depository institution, including all noninterest-bearing transactions accounts, will be insured by the FDIC up to the standard maximum deposit insurance amount ($250,000), for each deposit insurance ownership category.
